BIO

Kathleen Fairman practiced as a health outcomes researcher and quantitative methodologist for more than 20 years in various health care settings before coming to Midwestern University in 2013. Her degrees include an MA in Sociology, with concentrations in multivariate statistics and survey research methodology, from Arizona State University and a PhD in Health Psychology from Walden University. While working for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, she oversaw the rates paid to all Medicaid-contracted providers, led teams that negotiated payment rates with providers and the federal government, and administered agency program evaluation research. She served for six years as the Associate Editor and Senior Methodology Reviewer for the Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy (JMCP). Her textbook on research methods, Health Care Research Done Right, was named best book of 2012 for nonphysician health care professionals by the American Medical Writers Association. Dr. Fairman has published more than 90 Medline-indexed articles, including several award-winning publications, and currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Science Progress. At Midwestern University, she teaches Research Methods and Statistics, Advanced Analytics, and Evidence-Based Health Care, and provides methodological support for numerous student and faculty research projects.
