Christie Schumacher, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCACP

In her role at the internal medicine clinic, Dr. Schumacher offers comprehensive medication management for a range of internal medicine conditions, including heart failure, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease, and primary and secondary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Schumacher earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Michigan before completing a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Schumacher has been nationally recognized for her contributions to diabetes care and clinical pharmacy. She received the 2024 Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) Diabetes Care and Education Specialist of the Year Award, as well as the 2020 ADCES Diabetes Care and Education Specialist of the Year Award for Illinois. In addition, she was awarded the 2025 American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Ambulatory Care Practice Research Network (PRN) Achievement Award and the 2024 ACCP Endocrine and Metabolism PRN Achievement Award, reflecting her ongoing leadership and impact in ambulatory and endocrine pharmacy practice.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Schumacher is actively involved in pharmacy organizations. She has served as Chair of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties® Specialty Council on Ambulatory Care Pharmacy and as Chair of the ACCP Endocrine and Metabolism PRN and the ACCP Ambulatory Care PRN. She is currently a member of the American Diabetes Association Professional Practice Committee, which is responsible for updating the Standards of Care in Diabetes.
