Dawn Gerber, Pharm.D., BCGP, FASCP

Dr. Dawn Gerber, PharmD, BCGP, FASCP, FAzPA, CPAFH, is a highly accomplished pharmacist with extensive experience in geriatric pharmacy, pharmacy education, and professional development. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Drake University and completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency with an emphasis in Ambulatory Care at Creighton University Medical Center. Currently, she serves as a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy – Glendale.  

Dr. Gerber has over two decades of experience in academia. She has been extensively involved in geriatric pharmacy, serving as the PGY2 Geriatric Pharmacy Residency Program director and then coordinator. Additionally, she worked as an Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Banner Health Center for nearly 17 years.   From 2022 - 2025, she served as the Director of Education & Professional Development at the Arizona Pharmacy Association.

She is a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP) and recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (FASCP) and a Fellow of the Arizona Pharmacy Association (FAzPA). Dr. Gerber has held leadership roles in various committees and task forces within the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) and the Arizona Pharmacy Association (AzPA). She has been actively involved in educational and policy committees, contributing to the advancement of pharmacy practice and education.

In her teaching and mentorship roles, Dr. Gerber has coordinated and lectured for multiple pharmacy courses, including Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Community Partnership in Public Health, and Political Advocacy and Leadership. She has also served as a preceptor for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) and the former PGY2 Geriatric & Academia Residency program, mentoring numerous pharmacy students and residents.

Dr. Gerber has authored and co-authored multiple articles and book chapters on topics such as geriatric pharmacotherapy, complementary and alternative medicine, and pharmacy education.  Dr. Gerber regularly attends and presents at professional conferences, staying current with advancements in pharmacy practice and education.

Her awards and honors include the Gerontologist of the Year Award from the Arizona Geriatrics Society and multiple leadership awards from the Arizona Pharmacy Association. She serves as an ASCP Region G Age-Friendly 4Ms Champion and contributed to the development of the Certified Professional in Age-Friendly Health Care (CPAFH) credential through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. She has been recognized for her exemplary service and contributions to the profession of pharmacy and geriatrics.
