BIO
Alesia Prakapenka, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Sciences (IL) at Midwestern University. In 2013, she earned her B.S. in Psychology and B.S. in International Business Management from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She earned her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Neuroscience in 2018 from Arizona State University under the co-mentorship of Drs. Heather Bimonte-Nelson and Rachael Sirianni. She next completed her postdoctoral training with Dr. Donna Korol at Syracuse University. At Midwestern University, Dr. Prakapenka’s research program investigates the underlying neurobiological and physiological mechanisms governing ovarian hormone modulation of brain and behavioral female health as a function of age and Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.
