Dr. Ashley L. Madern, DMD, MS is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Oral & Maxillofacial Radiologist at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Arizona. She completed her residency at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, where she served as Co-Chief Resident. Prior to specializing, Dr. Madern practiced as a general dentist in the United States Navy and taught at both the high school and collegiate levels, contributing to her strong foundation in education and mentorship.
At Midwestern University, Dr. Madern directs the Advanced Imaging curriculum as well as Clinical Oral Pathology I and II. She teaches extensively in radiology, artificial intelligence, oral pathology, and CBCT interpretation, and was selected as Specialty Faculty of the Year.
A founding member of the American Academy of Artificial Intelligence in Dentistry, Dr. Madern's scholarly work sits at the intersection of advanced imaging, AI-driven diagnostics, and dental education. Her research includes deep learning–based canal morphology classification using CBCT, radiation safety awareness across dental professions, and multiple peer-reviewed publications in implantology, oral radiology, and oral pathology. She holds a U.S. patent for an X-ray aiming ring apparatus and has presented nationally on AI in dentistry, CBCT interpretation, and evidence-based imaging practice.
Dr. Madern is an active member with the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology holding multiple committee memberships. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and member of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society.
