BIO
Dr. Melissa Pierce-Rivera is an Assistant Professor in the Speech-Language Pathology Program at MWU. She completed her doctoral degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Arizona State University (2022) and has been a licensed speech-language pathologist since 2007. She has practiced in pediatric outpatient, elementary school, preschool, and early intervention settings in the United States and abroad. She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in northern Peru (2010-2012) and worked as an SLP for a private pediatric practice in Beijing (2012-2014). Dr. Pierce-Rivera is fluent in Spanish and has experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse clients and their families. She is passionate about differentiation between language differences and disorders and working with young children with developmental language delays and disorders. She is certified in Hanen: It Takes Two to Talk.
