Andrea Marie Karr

Andrea Karr is an Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education in the Occupational Therapy Program at Midwestern University. She earned her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from Saint Louis University in 2011 and is currently completing her doctoral degree through the University of Montana.

Andrea brings over 15 years of clinical experience across a variety of healthcare settings, with the majority of her career spent at a Level I Trauma Center. Her clinical expertise includes acute care occupational therapy, intensive care unit (ICU) rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, stroke recovery, movement disorders, and inpatient rehabilitation. She has extensive experience working with medically complex patients across the continuum of care and has served as a clinical instructor and mentor to numerous occupational therapy students throughout her career.

Andrea holds specialized certifications as an LSVT BIG® Certified Clinician for individuals with Parkinson's disease, a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), and a Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Professional (CSRP). Her professional interests include neurological rehabilitation, clinical education, fieldwork development, simulation-based learning, and preparing occupational therapy students for successful transition into clinical practice.

In her role as Director of Clinical Education, Andrea oversees fieldwork education and clinical partnerships while supporting students' professional development from the classroom to clinical practice. She is passionate about bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world clinical application through experiential learning, mentorship, and evidence-based education.
