Research interests focus on intervention for individuals with speech, language, and cognitive-communication disorders resulting from a range of neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegenerative diseases with an aim to enhance functional communication and quality of life across diverse clinical populations  

Nicole Gilbert is deeply committed to advancing clinical education for graduate students in speech-language pathology. This includes exploring innovative teaching methods, mentorship models, and competency-based training to prepare future clinicians for effective, ethical, and person-centered practice.
