BIO

Dr. Patrice Ayala ( she/her): is an Associate Professor within the DPT program at Midwestern University. She earned a bachelors degree in Exercise Science and Biology from Gonzaga University, a Masters in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hahnemann , and then a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from A.T. Still University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Education with an emphasis on Educational Technology and Online Learning from Regent University. Her career has involved care across all settings with an emphasis on sub acute care, administration with staff education and internal documentation audits, acute care, and home health. She presently works in surgery centers assisting those who have had total joint replacement surgery  in the the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). She earned a board certification as a Geriatric Clinical Specialist and serves on the Specialization Academy of Content Experts for the Geriatric Specialty area writing exam questions. She is a Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults (CEEAA) through the Academy of Geriatrics and is an Arizona State co-advocate for the Geriatric Academy. She is a co-founding member of  the Walk With A Future Doc Chapter for Midwestern University in conjunction with the Arizona Falls Coalition. She is also a certified facilitator of Opening Minds Through Art helping older adults with cognitive deficits and a member of the Arizona Coalition on Aging.

In the DPT program , she is the assistant Director of Clinical Education, the faculty advisor for the Student Government Association (SGA), Geriatric and A.C.C.E.S.S.  student Special Interest Groups. She is a preceptor for the MWU H.O.M.E. program where she supervises the Justa Center and Senior Haven Student run clinics serving unsheltered adults age 55+.
