BIO
Susan Tully is a part-time Assistant Professor for the Midwestern University Occupational Therapy Program. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1990, her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992. Susan also holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary. Since beginning her career in Occupational Therapy, Professor Tully has worked in a variety of practice areas, including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient day treatment program, and home health. Her primary areas of specialization have been adult neurorehabilitation, cognitive rehabilitation, and community reintegration of clients with traumatic brain injury and stroke. Professor Tully began her career at Midwestern University in 2005 as an adjunct professor while concurrently providing patient care in private practice. She has authored or co-authored textbook chapters on milieu oriented cognitive rehabilitation services, psychosocial adaptation to physical disability, and social cognition. She has served multiple years as the clinical preceptor for OT students participating in medical mission trips to Guatemala, and has presented at local and national OT conferences on the role of OT students on an interdisciplinary primary care mission trip to Guatemala. Professor Tully is currently a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, DOCARE International, International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
