Kolla Kristjansdottir, Ph.D.

Dr. Kristjansdottir received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina in 2005. She completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the The University of Chicago in 2011 and continued there as a Research Associate until 2012 studying alterations in phosphoproteomic signaling in several systems including the yeast cell cycle, tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer and the pediatric cancer, neuroblastoma . She joined Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL in 2012 as an Assistant Professor in the Biomedical Sciences Program. She was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure in 2017. In 2019, she became the Associate Program Director for the Precision Medicine Program in the College of Graduate Studies. Dr. Kristjansdottir was the President of the Chicago Mass Spectrometry Discussion Group (CMSDG) from 2016-2019. She is currently a member-at-large in the Society for In Vitro Biology and was Program Chair of the 2024 meeting. The Kristjansdottir lab focuses on molecular markers of neuroblastoma, and the molecular mechanism of topography directed nerve regeneration after injury.
