Christina del Toro, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Christina M. del Toro, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is a Professor in Speech-Language Pathology at Midwestern University where she teaches graduate students, conducts research, and participates in service activities.

Dr. del Toro teaches courses on aphasia, research methods, and evidence-based practice. She regularly lectures on issues related to adult neurogenic language and speech disorders for programs in the College of Health Sciences, College of Dental Medicine, and The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. del Toro's research is focused on aphasia rehabilitation. Current studies are investigating action video stimuli, the use of patient personal pictures and videos as stimuli, development of patient questionnaires, and the use of patient personal technology in therapy. She mentors students in theses projects related to aphasia and, serves as a committee member for students completing theses on a variety of topics. She presents her research at state and national conferences and supports her theses students in presenting at these venues.

Dr. del Toro is a member of the Illinois Speech-Language Hearing Association, Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders, Aphasia Access, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She formerly the co-chair of the Aphasia and Other Communication Disorders Task Force, of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine Stroke, ISIG Committee https://acrm.org/acrm-communities/stroke/stroke-isig-task-forces/aphasia-task-force/ .
