RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. del Toro conducts her research through the Aphasia Lab located at the Midwestern University Speech-Language Institute. Dr. del Toro's research focuses on language impairments related to aphasia, a disorder caused by stroke or other types of brain injury that affect how adults speak, understand language, read, or write. Current studies are investigating action video stimuli, the use of patient personal pictures and videos as stimuli, development of patient questionnaires, and the use of patient personal technology in therapy. The long term goal of Dr. del Toro's research is to develop more effective treatment methods and materials for individuals with aphasia.
