Abby Hurley

Dr. Abby Hurley is a licensed clinical psychologist who serves as an assistant professor in the PsyD Clinical Psychology program at Midwestern University.  She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology in 2012 from Wheaton College and has over two decades worth of experience with adolescents and adults in inpatient, residential, crisis, and outpatient settings.

Her areas of interest include complex trauma, dissociative disorders, self-harm behavior, suicidality, the exploration of gender & sexuality, and maternal mental health concerns. With a Masters in Historical & Systematic Theology she has a particular interest in working with individuals navigating the intersection of their faith with identity formation, healing and growth. 

In the community she serves as the Director of the Center for Values-Based Living and as a partner at Heritage Professional Associates. Here, Dr. Hurley bridges her love for person-centered, evidence-based work with her passion for mentorship and teaching as a clinical supervisor for student therapists working primarily within the Center for Values-Based Living. 

Dr. Hurley has served on the board for the Association of Contextual Behavioral Sciences Chicago Chapter and has held faculty positions at The Chicago School for Professional Psychology.

In her free time, Dr. Hurley spends every precious moment with her children and likes to take in live music every chance she can get.  The beauty of a ray of sunshine has been known to cause momentary distraction and she is drawn to the simple pleasures of food, the written word, and laughter.
