Jonathan Wilson, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Jonathan P. Wilson, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is Program Director and Associate Professor in Speech-Language Pathology at Midwestern University, where he provides leadership, teaches graduate students, conducts research, and participates in service activities.

Dr. Wilson teaches courses in the neurological bases of communication sciences and disorders, fluency disorders, and cognitive-communication disorders. He directs neuroanatomy dissection labs to help students better understand applied principles of neuroplasticity relevant to the practice of speech-language pathology. He is director of the cognitive-lingusitics lab at Midwestern University and is a board certified speech-language pathologist.

In his research, Dr. Wilson investigates reading disabilities and differences associated with neurogenic pathologies and healthy aging, including alexia within aphasia, the effects of cognitive load on discourse production associated with healthy aging and brain injury, student approaches to self-regulated learning and simulation training approaches for graduate learning.  Dr. Wilson mentors students in thesis projects in a variety of clinically relevant topics. He presents his research at state and national conferences.

Dr. Wilson is a member of the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
