RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Wilson conducts his research through the Cognitive-Linguistics lab located at Midwestern University's Speech-Language Institute.

 

His research focuses on acquired language impairments related to cognitive-communication disorders, a class of neurogenic injuries that affect how adults speak, understand language, read, or write subsequent to changes in memory, attention, or executive functioning.

 

Dr. Wilson is interested in examining the effects of cognitive load on language use including discourse production tasks associated with healthy aging, testing theories of embodied cognition, adaptation to task demands hierarchies and its association with degenerative or chronic neuropathologies including Parkinson's disease and Traumatic Brain Injury.
