TEACHING INTERESTS
Dr. Mahaffey teaches courses related to Occupation, disability and policy, disability studies, group therapy and mental health practice. In addition, Dr. Mahaffey supports several student research projects and mentors 2-5 students through their capstone projects each year. She is also serving as the project director for the Midwestern University Tiered Occupational Therapy training grant funded by the United States Department of Education. Over the five years of the grant, Dr. Mahaffey and co-directors Divya Sood and Gifty Abraham will train 45 Midwestern students and any participating school-based practitioners with the additional knowledge they need to successfully serve on school and district-wide mental health interdisciplinary intervention teams.
