Dr. Sands is a proud graduate of the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Board certified in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Sands practiced as a public health physician for over 25 years before joining the clinical education faculty at the Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012.

As a public health physician Dr. Sands served in various leadership positions within state and local public health agencies including: chief health officer for the Southern Nevada Health District in Las Vegas, NV; community health services director and biodefense preparedness and response medical director for the Maricopa County Department of Public Health in Phoenix, AZ; and state epidemiologist and infectious disease services chief for the Arizona Department of Health Services. 

Dr. Sands is a past president of the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association (2003-2004), and an inaugural  member of the Health Improvement Partnership of Maricopa County steering committee (2015-2021).  He has served on the Adelante Healthcare board of directors since 2013, including three years as board chair (2017-2019), and currently is an emeritus board member. 

Dr. Sands completed a residency in preventive medicine and public health, in addition to an MPH degree in health planning and administration, at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Prior to entering the public health field, Dr. Sands practiced as a primary care physician in Michigan.

Dr. Felicia E. Trembath is an Associate Professor in the College of Graduate Studies at Midwestern University, with academic appointments in the Midwestern University College of Medicine, Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine, and Midwestern University College of Graduate Studies. She earned both an M.P.H. and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Purdue University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Arizona State University.

Dr. Trembath teaches and develops coursework in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, and One Health across graduate and professional programs. In addition to her teaching and research responsibilities, she contributes to cross-campus academic initiatives related to curriculum alignment, assessment practices, student success, and accreditation support across the health sciences. Her work emphasizes student-centered approaches to learning, mentoring, and workforce preparation.

Prior to moving full-time into academics, Dr. Trembath worked with health departments and public agencies across six states, including service as a Senior Epidemiologist with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health and as a Health Systems Integration Program Fellow with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her work has included applied epidemiology, workforce development, program evaluation, and public health informatics.

Dr. Trembath has held leadership roles in several public health organizations, including service on the Board of Directors for the International Society for Disease Surveillance. She currently serves as Vice President of the Arizona Public Health Association, where she has served on the executive board for over a decade. Her professional interests focus on strengthening connections between education, workforce pathways, healthcare systems, and community partnerships to improve health and student outcomes.

Dr. Larry Williams graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1982 with subsequent service of 30 years in the United States Navy Dental Corps. He currently serves as a Professor at the Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine- Illinois where he provides mentorship and preclinical skill development to 1st and 2nd year dental students. In addition to his educational duties, he is currently serving as Trustee for the Academy of General Dentistry, Board member for the Asian Human Services Family Health Center Federally Qualified Health Center's Board of Directors, and past 12-year member of the Skokie, Illinois Board of Health. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry (Mastership-LLSR), and holds board certified status in the American Board of General Dentistry. Dr. Williams is also a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and Academy of Dentistry International. Dr. Williams recently served as the President of the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry and as President of the West Side Branch of the Chicago Dental Society.. Dr. Williams currently serves as National Trustee of the Academy of General Dentistry.  He also completed his Masters of Public Health in May of 2017.

Dr. Mariah K. Zeigler is an Associate Professor in the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) Program. She is the course director for the Introduction to Public Health and the Introduction to Environmental and Occupational Health courses, as well as the U.S. and Global Food Systems course, and the Public Health Emergency Preparedness course. Dr. Zeigler aids in delivery of the M.P.H. degree program at Midwestern University's Glendale, AZ and Downers Grove, IL campuses and provides guest lectures in numerous other courses offered at Midwestern. Dr. Zeigler earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Bio-Science with Honors in Veterinary Science from The Pennsylvania State University in 2005 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. In 2007, Dr. Zeigler was the recipient of a United States Air Force Health Professional Scholarship Program (HPSP) scholarship. After graduating from veterinary school, she served in the United States Air Force as a Public Health Officer. Following honorable separation in 2013, Dr. Zeigler practiced companion animal medicine while completing her M.P.H. for Practicing Veterinarians from the University of Iowa. She earned her M.P.H. in 2017 and became a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (DACVPM) that same year. In addition to directing and teaching courses in the M.P.H. program, she teaches in and shares a joint appointment with the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Zeigler joined the faculty at Midwestern University in 2020.
