Lisa Mahaffey, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA

Lisa Mahaffey, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA received a baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a PhD in Disability Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Mahaffey has authored several book chapters, as well as peer reviewed articles, related to occupational therapy and mental health for adults and children and was a contributor to the third edition of the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (AOTA, 2014). Dr. Mahaffey's professional service includes 10 years on the board of directors for the Illinois Occupational Therapy Association (ILOTA) where she served first as director of finance and most recently as president. She served the American Occupational Therapy Association as the chair for the mental health special interest section from 2006 to 2009, as a member of the Commission on Practice from 2011-2014, and as on the Board of Directors from 2019 to 2022. She is currently serving as the Chair of the Illinois Occupational Therapy Political Action Committee.
